Our Growing Practices
Harrison Market Gardens strives to use the most organic of methods; ranging from worm castings, green manures, no-till systems, and creating our own compost. Our crops are grown without conventional pesticides. Our fertilizers have no synthetic ingredients nor sewage sludge. GMO’s are out. We try to source most of our seed from organic growers and rely largely on heirloom varieties. We have begun to save some of our own seed each year. USDA “organic certification” serves the need of large growers who ship their products and are not in touch with the people buying them. We live in our market area, our produce is sold locally, and our farm is open for transparency. What could be better than that. Look up Harrison Market Gardens on www.naturallygrown.org for more information on how we grow and are monitored.
